WATERING Never allow plants to dry out. Several daily fog-sprays are necessary to keep buds from drying when plants are in the house. Water every three or four days.
TEMPERATURE Phalaenopsis need to be kept warm, 70º to 90º days and minimum 60º nights with high humidity. It is good to have a 10 to 20º diference between night and day temps. Maintain adequate ventilation without drafts. Constant fans for good air movement are a great benefit.
FOOD AND LIGHT Always needs some shade from direct sunlight. In areas of intense light, the plants will require shade cloth in addition to glass shade. Feed often and regularly with a balanced fertilizer.
WHEN TO POT Repot in summer after flowering. Repot only when compost requires changing (usually every year or two) or when all roots are on top.
POTTING MEDIA Coarse slate, coarse fir bark, dampened pulled osmunda, red and black lava rock, or osmunda and live sphagnum. Save all of the old roots as much as possible. |
