WATERING Abundant watering and humidity at all times. Have abundant air circulation without chilling.
TEMPERATURE High temperatures of 85º to 95º by day is not harmful. Minimum night temperature of 55º. Avoid sudden drop to night level.
FOOD AND LIGHT Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer (20-20-20) once a week. Vandas require lots of light and do not need winter shading. They need more light and food than most other orchids. Leaves should be a light green color. In warm and bright climates, vandas can be grown outdoors with partial shade in midday.
WHEN TO POT Repot when new roots start, usually spring or summer. Save all old roots. Cracks in roots when bending into pot does not harm them. Do not overpot.
POTTING MEDIA Coarse slate or large bark is best. Leave air space between particles in whatever medium you use. Can use coarse bark or hapoo, or straight osmunda. Do not pot hard. Roots are thick and blunt. They need space to root into. ASCOCENDAS . . . same as Vanda culture.
